The press that takes a member to your target does two things at once: it makes a reward code for that member and starts their card again from zero. Any stamp past the target carries into the new card, so a double press in the rush is never wasted.
The code is six characters of letters and numbers. Characters that look alike, such as 0 and O, are left out, so it reads cleanly across a pastry case.
You see it in two places. Beside the Stamp button, as "Reward earned" and the code, the moment it is made. And under Rewards waiting on the member's row, where it stays until you press Mark used.
Hand the reward over on the visit the card fills where you can, so the customer walks out with the vanilla slice already in the bag. If they would rather save it for Saturday, the code sits on their row and they do not need to remember it. Fill the card twice before claiming and a member simply has two codes waiting.
Press Mark used beside the code as the reward goes into the bag; it leaves the row, and a second till cannot claim it again. Each code carries the reward as it read when the card filled, so if you change the reward from a loaf to a slice next week, codes already earned still mean a loaf.
