Messages to the club

Tell the club when the rye is back on the rack

A campaign is one message to everyone in your club who has not opted out. Type it, press Save draft, then Send now when it reads right. Crumb sends email. Hearth sends email and texts from a number that belongs to your bakery, included in the plan. Each member's copy has a stop link that is theirs alone.

Free costs no money: you agree to receive marketing from Bakebound and its partners by email and phone, and can unsubscribe any time. What that means

A text campaign being written on the Campaigns page, sent from the shop's own number. It goes to 124 members: 128 joined and 4 opted out, who are skipped. On the phone it reads "Gullnook Pie Shop: Pepper steak pies are back in the warmer from Monday, and the dark rye leaves the oven at 7 on Saturday. Opt out:" and the member's own link. Text is on Hearth.

Email on Crumb and Hearth

An email campaign reaches only the members who added an address on the join page and then clicked the confirmation link we sent. Each email has a subject line and room for 5,000 characters of news. The footer says why they are getting it and how to stop.

  • Crumb: 450 campaign messages a month
  • Hearth: 650 campaign messages a month
  • Only addresses the member confirmed

Texts on Hearth

Hearth comes with a texting number of your own at no extra charge. It is set up when the plan starts and shows on the Campaigns page after "Your texts go from". Where Get my sending number shows in place of the number, press it once. If the carrier is out of numbers that morning, the club gets your news by email until yours turns up. You get 300 characters for what you want to say. The text that lands reads your bakery's name, a colon, your words, then "Opt out:" and the link, all under 480 characters, and if it runs long your words are trimmed, never the link.

How the allowance counts

Each member a campaign reaches is one campaign message, whether by email or by text. Daily Loaf counts the full send against your allowance before the first message goes, so a campaign too big for what is left this month stays put, and the page tells you how much you have used. Leftovers do not roll into next month: on the first, Melbourne time, the count is back at nought.

What a campaign will never do

There is no send-later, no picking a group within the club, no name fields and no message that goes out by itself: no birthday text, no come-back nudge, no reminder. There is no test send to yourself either, so read the draft twice. One message, to the club, when you press the button.

After the send

Afterwards it is marked sent, with a count of how many were delivered. Members who opted out before you pressed the button are skipped. Anyone who uses their opt-out link or replies STOP afterwards is skipped next time. Replies other than an opt-out word do not show in the dashboard, so put your shop phone in the message if you want calls.

Questions about the messages to the club

Can I text on Crumb?

No. Texting needs a number of your bakery's own, and Hearth is the plan that brings one. On Crumb, campaigns go by email.

Is there a charge per text?

No. Whether it goes by text or by email, each one simply comes out of the month's campaign messages, and nothing is billed on top.

Can I send only to the members who buy cakes?

No. A campaign goes to everyone in the club who has not opted out. There are no groups to pick from.

Can customers order a cake by replying?

No. The dashboard shows no replies except the opt-out words, which it acts on. Give your phone number in the message, or ask people to order at the counter.

Writing the card takes a couple of minutes. The first fifty members cost no money, only a marketing consent, and the card works in full from the first morning.
